Please note that the Mock Voting Center Table you see in the photos was hurriedly \u201cthrown together\u201d and therefore looks that way, especially the signs. You are encouraged to take more time to make your Voting Center Table look better assembled.\u00a0 You are also encouraged to make the Voting Center itself \u2013 if allowed by the venue\u2019s owners \u2013 look more \u201celection like\u201d with red, white and blue decorations such as balloons, bunting or the like. Election Day is a day of the community coming together to celebrate one of our most precious rights. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman','serif';\"><em><big><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">For true inspiration, please take the time to view these two wonderful videos of hand-counted paper ballot elections that were filmed in two small New Hampshire towns on Election Day in Nov. 2004:<\/span><\/span><\/big><\/em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=SxZ0jCoH2BQ \">Video 1 Part 1<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=95GRMhotMOQ\">Part 2<\/a> &amp; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=KsJE7pVHeq4\">Video 2<\/a>.<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/votingcenter\/p1.jpg\" alt=\"P1\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">Larger signs can be printed out if the word is broken into segments and printed on tw<\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">o separate pieces of paper that are then pieced together.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/votingcenter\/p2.jpg\" alt=\"P2\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">The two halves of the word \u201cRegistration\u201d have been taped together and then taped to the larger piece of white poster board. You might have to trim the ends of one of the halves so that the spacing of the letters remains constant once the two halves are pieced together. BTW, the taping shown here is pretty poorly done.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/votingcenter\/p3.jpg\" alt=\"P3\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">This is one way of letting people know which end of the table they need to go to first.\u00a0 The sign can also be taped (if allowed) to a wall behind the table<\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">. Keep in mind, if there are crowds of voters lined up to pick up or hand in their Registration Form, the signs posted as they are shown here will not be readily seen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/votingcenter\/p4.jpg\" alt=\"P4\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">This just shows that the signs, if attached to the table, should be at opposite ends along the front edge of the table. BTW, the table shown is a bit short. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">An eight (8)-foot long table is highly recommended over a 6-footer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/votingcenter\/p5.jpg\" alt=\"P5\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">The tools and template needed to cut the ballot slot in the Ballot Box top: scissors, tape and the utility cutting knife. IMPORTANT &#8211; PLEASE NOTE:\u00a0 The red utility knife listed on the Office Depot list and shown here will NOT work for cutting the slot. It is the WRONG knife.\u00a0 <em>(<\/em><em>My<\/em><em> huge apologies!<\/em><em> ~Karen<\/em><\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">) <\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">Please<\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\"> return <\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">it to Office Depot if possible and select a tool that will do the job of cutting through thick plastic. You are a better judge than I am at this point in selecting the best cutting tool.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/votingcenter\/p6.jpg\" alt=\"P6\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">Cut AROUND the template as shown, keeping the \u00bd\u201d by 9 \u00bd\u201d <\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">template<\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\"> and discarding the rest of the sheet of paper.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/votingcenter\/p7.jpg\" alt=\"P7\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">Place the template on a non-<\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">stickable<\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\"> surface to p<\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">ut the tape over all four sides of the template so it extends about a half inch beyond the edges<\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">.\u00a0 Then peel the template and the tape off this surface for placement onto the Ballot Box top.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/votingcenter\/p8.jpg\" alt=\"P8\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">Even though the directions o the template say to tape the template to the top surface of the Ballot Box top, it actually works better to turn the top OVER and tape it to the bottom of the center \u201cgully\u201d centered left to right.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/votingcenter\/p9.jpg\" alt=\"P9\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">Pulling the SHARP knife blade slowly, m<\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">ake as deep a cut as you can along the outside <\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">dotted lines <\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">of the template to score the plastic. The template will come off the surface at this point, but you\u2019ll have your score marks to re-cut<\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\"> until the slot is made<\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/votingcenter\/p10.jpg\" alt=\"P10\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">To prepare the Ballot Box for receiving ballots, first inspect the inside to be certain it is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">totally<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\"> empty.\u00a0 NOTE: It is important to film this part of the preparation to prove there <\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">were no ballot<\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\"> in the box before it was sealed.\u00a0 Also, have the tamper-proof tape and one of the sharpie markers<\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\"> ready to use.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/votingcenter\/p11.jpg\" alt=\"P11\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">Put the top onto the Ballot Box so it fits tightly and then begin to tape the top to the bottom as shown. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">When the tape goes across the top, use your fingers to press the tape down into at least two of the \u201cgullies\u201d so that it can be signed across as shown in the next photo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/votingcenter\/p12.jpg\" alt=\"P12\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">One end of the box is now wrapped with the tape all the way around, overlapping it twice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/votingcenter\/p13.jpg\" alt=\"P13\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">Two Team Members shall sign across the tape as shown. It is very important that the signatures begin on the plastic top, then go onto the tape and then back onto the plastic box. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/votingcenter\/p14.jpg\" alt=\"P14\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">A close-up of the signature.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\"> By writing across both the plastic top and the tape, it makes resealing the top very difficult to look as if there was no fraudulent access. The tape is also supposed to leave marks if pulled away.\u00a0 This function of the tape didn\u2019t work as well as hoped.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/votingcenter\/p15.jpg\" alt=\"P15\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">The tools and print out needed to make the badges are shown: scissors, the lanyard with the badge holder clipped on and the sheets of inserts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/votingcenter\/p16.jpg\" alt=\"P16\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">To do a back-to-back insert, cut out two of the inserts as shown.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/votingcenter\/p17.jpg\" alt=\"P17\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">Then fold it in half as shown above.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/votingcenter\/p18.jpg\" alt=\"P18\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">Voila!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/votingcenter\/p19.jpg\" alt=\"P19\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">Here is a photo of the table with everything placed on it.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\"> If the table is longer, then the Ballot Box may be placed after the Voter Sign-In station. Otherwise<\/span><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">, placing it in the middle is best for observing the box.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"images\/votingcenter\/p20.jpg\" alt=\"P20\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0pt; margin-right: 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\">This is a close-up of the left end of the table with the Registration Form on a clip board ready to be handed to a voter.
